Just like that, Waddington Wealth Management is 4 years old. This year had the added obstacle of COVID, which I think we can all fairly use as an excuse for at least the rest of 2020. I have been working from home since early March, and other than not being able to meet people in person, it has gone smoothly. I have my wonderful wife to thank for that!
As you can imagine, we have a busy household with three boys, ages 6, 4 and 2. Of course the 6-year-old has been home from school which hasn’t made Liz’s life easier. As I have said before, the best way for me to grow my business is to provide incredible service and value to my clients in hopes they trust me enough to refer their friends, family and colleagues. Without Liz taking so much of the mental load off my plate by managing everything else, I would never be able to provide the value my clients deserve. I have really been able to get a full picture of everything she goes through while working from home!
On top of Liz’s support for me, we have a huge network of family and friends that allow Liz and I to find balance and give back to the community, which we both believe is important and rewarding. I continue to be on the board of the New Westminster Chamber of Commerce, be a member of the Royal City Rotary Club and look forward to again coaching the boy’s lacrosse teams. I also enjoyed a stint on the city’s Economic Development Advisory Committee. Liz’s passion for children shows with being on the Education Committee of her church and continuing on the board of the McBride PAC.
We are not only headed in to my 5th year as Waddington Wealth Management but I am also going in to my 13th year in the industry, all with Canaccord Genuity. Every year I tell you how busy business has been and update you on our growth, but our 4th year absolutely takes the cake. Our clients continue to amaze us with their support by sending referrals, recommending us online and singing our praises. So much so that we have had to reload on Steel & Oak GCs which go with our referral thank you cards three times.
Our business has grown by over 110% in the last year and we could not have done that without our wonderful clients referring us friends, family and others they believe could use good, honest advice about their finances.
From the start, I have adopted the business model that if you look after your clients and do what is in their best interest, your clients will in turn take care of you. Proof that this model is working was humbly winning 2019 Best Financial Advisor in the Record’s Reader’s Choice Awards.
This next part is stolen from my year 1 (and 2 and 3) recap but it is just as true now as it was then…
It has been a wonderfully busy year and I will always look back on it fondly. With that said, I am looking forward to what year five has to offer. I am looking forward to working and growing with my clients. I am look forward to meeting and helping new people. I am looking forward to contributing more to my community. Lastly, I am looking forward to summer!
